Evacuate the building

Today was exciting. It was my first legitimate building evacuation! The fire department and hazmat showed up. It appeared as if they were going all out!
Thank goodness we were done with work, and I was just working on my earlier blog post at my desk. The building alarms did not go off, so our point of contact came to find us. We packed up and headed out to the marshalling area in the parking lot. Glad I made it to my safety briefing the other day.

We hung out outside of the beautiful Space Station Processing Facility (SSPF) until we got the “all clear.”

Turns out that the evacuation was just a precaution because a low oxygen sensor went off in the ammonia handling area near our offices. They just wanted to make sure everyone was safe while they got the situation under control. Looks like they did a great job, and I got to experience NASA safety at its finest! The sensor was set at an appropriate level to eliminate any risks. This one was not a drill, but everything turned out okay in the end. The emergency response team fixed the problem before anything bad could possibly happen.
